Early Infant Death Syndrome

Commonly refered to as cot death or shaken baby syndrome,can be caused by traumatic birth in terms of a long delivery period over twelve hours, a very short period under 2 hours and any form of intervention such as caesarean section. It is known that traumatic births are due to illness during pregnancy usually accompanied by risk of early termination and digestion of toxic substances.

Hypoxia is the most common form of trauma leading to brain injury as well as death, also swelling of the brain due to hydracephelus. This swelling of the brain is known to cause internal bleeding.
